Willard Scott "invented" Ronald McDonald. And yes, that Willard Scott. Apparently he acted as a local Bozo the Clown in D.C., too. He put Bozo to bed and then came Ronald. I wonder if Joel McHale knows this tidbit....
Now, how does a clown become a weather man? I think Joel would turn around and ask how a weather man becomes a clown, then roll some footage of Al Roker.
